This session will focus on the importance of leadership development in advancing strategic advantage in employee-owned companies. The contexts in which this is critical include, but are not necessarily limited to: 1) Making an acquisition – Who will lead the integration of both process and culture, so critical to an employee-owned company? 2) New product and service development – Who has the leadership capability required to take the company to new and growth-oriented markets? 3) Succession planning – Who are the next generation of leaders in the company? What leadership capabilities will they need to develop in order to step into crucial roles when the time comes? 4) Competing in the talent market that values development – How will the company attract and retain the top talent necessary to create a competitive edge?
Answers to these questions, and a process for developing a robust, compelling leadership development approach will be covered in this this session. Participants will also hear from the president/CEO of a highly successful ESOP company that has leveraged the development of internal talent into tripling its sales numbers over the course of 10 years, and successfully integrating 11 acquisitions, all while maintaining a strong culture and an unwavering commitment to leadership development.
