As the National ESOP Advisory Lead, Joe is passionate about helping individuals and companies discover the potential value of being employee owned. As part of the Creative Planning Business Services team Joe provides strategic ESOP expertise with a focus in ESOP Feasibility, ESOP Sell-Side Advisory Services, ESOP Debt Placement, ESOP buy-side and organizational consulting and ESOP sustainability.
Joe brings extensive experience in the ESOP industry, having supported numerous companies in developing and implementing ESOP strategies. Before joining Creative Planning as an ESOP Advisor, he established and grew an ESOP Finance practice at a privately-held regional bank in Iowa, serving clients across the nation. Joe is a prominent
figure in the ESOP community, frequently presenting on various topics such as ESOP fundamentals, financing, and long-term sustainability.
Joe earned his Bachelor's degree in Accounting from the University of Northern Iowa, and obtained a degree from the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He also holds a Leadership Certificate from the University of Wisconsin. Actively involved in the ESOP advocacy community, Joe serves as an Advisory Council Member for both the Iowa Center for Employee Ownership (IACEO) and the Missouri Center for
Employee Ownership (MOCEO). Beyond his professional commitments, Joe serves as the Board President of a local Children’s Mental Health Organization and sits on the board of an ESOP company based in Des Moines.
Joe and his wife reside in Urbandale, Iowa with their two teenage sons. They spend most of their time enjoying their kids activities, golf and traveling.
